What to expect
Games like this tend to turn on small details, whether that is a set piece, a single mistake or one moment of quality. Neither Heerenveen nor NEC will want to fall behind early, and the opening twenty minutes may say a lot about how the game goes. Heerenveen will want the home crowd involved early, while NEC will aim to stay organised and make the first hour uncomfortable. Every point counts in this Eredivisie season, and neither side will give any away easily. Fans watching from abroad can use the times above to plan around work, school or sleep. The fixture list rarely leaves much time to dwell on a single result, so every game in this stretch carries some weight. Even a single result can change the mood around a club for a few weeks, which is why games like this get so much attention. A good atmosphere in the stadium can make a real difference, and both sets of supporters will have made their plans. Form can count for a lot, but it rarely settles a game on its own. For the neutral, there is plenty to enjoy in a match between two sides with something to play for. Come back nearer the day for any update to the match details.
